MotherFood and TenX Nutrition Launch Fortified School Nutrition Program in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya — 2026 — MotherFood and TenX Nutrition have launched a new nutrition initiative aimed at improving the health of students in Nairobi. Beginning in 2026, the partnership will provide a fortified mandazi to every student each school day at the Peace Children Center, delivering essential micronutrients to approximately 300 students.

Mandazi, a beloved East African staple, will be produced locally and fortified to provide additional nutritional value. Each Mandazi POWER provides approximately 25% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for key micronutrients for children aged 4–8 years, helping support healthy growth, improved energy levels, and better learning outcomes.

The initiative combines MotherFood’s mission to combat maternal and child malnutrition through local entrepreneurship with TenX Nutrition’s commitment to developing nutritious food products that serve communities at scale.

“TenX Nutrition was founded on the belief that innovative food products can transform health outcomes,” said Fabio Rappenecker, founder of TenX Nutrition. “This initiative demonstrates how locally produced foods like mandazi can become powerful tools for delivering essential nutrients to students who need them most. We are proud to partner with MotherFood to bring this vision to life.”The program also highlights the importance of scalable nutrition solutions rooted in local food systems.

“MotherFood is incredibly proud to support this initiative,” said Jeff Baikowitz of MotherFood. “By working with partners like TenX Nutrition, we are helping ensure that students receive essential nutrients during the critical years of growth and development. Small daily interventions like this can have a meaningful impact on long-term health and educational outcomes.”

MotherFood and TenX Nutrition expect the initiative to serve as a model for future school-based nutrition programs across the region.
